About Modžo

I have been dancing for over 20 years. My foundation is mainly from House dance and Hip Hop – styles that taught me to perceive music, the body, rhythm, and my own movement. I am Dominika Ballová, also known by my nickname ‘Modžo'.

Dance means to me freedom and self-expression. However, through my years on the scene, I have also witnessed the other side – injuries, strains and issues that can be prevented.

Which is why I now share my experience with dancers, lecturers, and dance communities.

Dance is more than movement to me.

CREATIVITY

and photography

My dance journey began in Košice and gradually led me to dance schools, camps, workshops, and battles both at home and abroad.

Right after graduating high school in 2013, my passion for design took me to Denmark, where I earned an AP degree in Multimedia Design. I spent the following years working in the IT industry, but dance has been my top priority since childhood. Every spare moment after work was dedicated to training and building the community.

2020/21 a 2022/23 - A major turning point in my dance development was two years of intensive House dance studies at Åsa folkhögskola in Sweden. Besides dance, we focused deeply on conditioning, strength, dancer's health, and culture.

2018-2019 - Alongside work, I completed post-secondary studies in photographic design at the School of Applied Arts in Košice. Photography gave me another way to perceive movement and emotion through visuals. I started shooting events and portraits.

Today, I continue to expand my knowledge of the human body by studying physiotherapy at Alma Mater Europaea University in Slovenia. I am currently in my second year studying in English, looking forward to the next chapter.

How I teach

I don't believe in just one right way for a person to move.

In my dance classes, I create a space where you can understand, perceive, and discover your own movement.

I want to help you understand why you move the way you move, show you how to work better with your body, and gradually develop your own dance expression.

Therefore, I naturally integrate injury prevention, proper preparation for physical strain, and post-workout recovery into my teaching.

Body Awareness

Learn to listen to and understand your body.

Dance Development

Technique, creativity, and personal style.

Injury prevention

Proper preparation and recovery.

Culture & Community

History and sharing the dance.

„When you start tuning into your body, the music, the space and everything movement brings you, dance takes on a whole new dimension."
